People centered individuals are usually highly successful in business and life.  Unlike their data-centric counterparts, people-centric leaders focus on what matters most – their personnel. Being mindful of who and why you’re hiring as well as investing in individuals’ personal development goes a long way to running a prosperous company.

I appreciate business owners who realize numbers aren’t always the answer. Unfortunately, many managers presume that most problems can be figured out by analyzing data but what they don’t realize is that their employees are their most valuable asset. From filling them in on important information to being heavily engaged in the hiring process, those who concentrate their energy into people tend to go farther.

Joel Trammell, founder, and CEO of Khorus Software shares six reasons in his editorial for Inc.com that he believes people-centric leaders succeed:

  • They set clear priorities and make them known.
  • They make sure everyone knows the “why.”
  • They don’t solely concentrate on data.
  • They actively participate in the hiring process.
  • They know their employees.
