Mr. Stout’s explanation of how willpower works encourages us to tackle that daunting first step early in the day. Another idea I liked was the Pomodoro Technique. This approach helps us tackle a major project one step at a time and for only 25 minutes. I often use the timer method when I work on tasks that I don’t like doing—working on my taxes, writing a technical report, making reminder phone calls or decluttering my closets. Twenty-five minutes is more manageable than hours or days spent in drudgery. Don’t you think?
