Worker conduct can make or break a workplace morale. Your business’ success sits on a three-legged stool: workers; customers; and, you. If any of these legs are wobbly, then your business is not stable. Unlike other external forces (economy, regulations, suppliers, etc.), you can directly control these three legs.

Your employees bring their personal bags with them to work. Inside these suitcases are their life experiences, history, education, habits, attitudes, successes, failures, etc. Some people are unable to cope with the stresses of work and they resort to bad behavior.

As a general rule, direct, clear communication is the answer to handling most employee problems. Once you discover a problem, it’s important to take action instead of letting it fester and get worse. Your other employees will admire your swift action, and morale won’t deteriorate.
