In honor of Mexican Independence Day, I thought I would share some economic facts about the connections between Mexico and the United States. The following infographic shows how both countries fuel each other’s economies in a 24-hour period. Two surprising data points for me were that:  6 million US jobs depend on trade with Mexico and US small businesses export $41 million each year. That’s no small change, huh?

Recently, there has been some horrible language from a presidential candidate regarding Mexican immigrants that, frankly, have been unkind and hateful. Perhaps we need to start looking at our relationships through other lenses besides emotion and vote mongering. Regardless, regards to Mexican citizens as they celebrate Mexican Independence Day!
